What is being an Advanced Driver?

Lets first focus on the mental aspect of driving skills and how your attitude and concentration affect your driving.
Research has shown that driver attitude affects driver safety, but developing the correct attitude is not easy.
The first step is recognising that attitudes ARE important and making a personal commitment to change those attitudes that are unsafe.
All drivers, well certainly most, think that they are the most skillfull, but can we all be right when in 80% of accidents, human error is the cause?

ACCIDENTS DO NOT JUST HAPPEN, THEY ARE CAUSED!

In the first year of passing a driving test over 4000 deaths occur each year in the UK.
It is the largest single cause of death or injury to adults in the age group of 17 - 25 year olds.
Have you experienced an accident of near miss in the last 3 years?

Lets consider what makes a good driver:

  • a good level of attention
  • good forward observation
  • being fully aware of what is going on around the vehicle at all times
  • matching vehicle speed to the road situation
  • awareness of changing road situations and conditions
  • awareness of your limitations and those of your vehicle
  • skilful and systematic use of a vehicle's controls
  • your attitude to speed

The aforementioned are but a few of the necessary qualifications to become a good driver, an ADVANCED DRIVER.

We have driving instructors qualified to instruct you to the highest level, be it RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) gold, silver or bronze level or the I.A.M (Institute of Adanced Motorists).
